Information Avantasia at Bloodstock Open Air, Catton Park, UK

Avantasia Bloodstock Open Air festival 2013Here is another date in the new tour of Avantasia. The information we had before the show was that Oliver Hartmann will not play there, also Ronnie Atkins. Tobias commented in an interview:

Tobias: "Ronnie Atkins for some shows though not for the English show at Bloodstock, its a different lineup there."

But a few months later it seems Ronnie Atkins is free to make it, so it will be there, same happened with Oliver Hartmann. Unfortunately that didn't happen with Thomas Rettke who left the band, he published this statement:

"The story is over... with the show at the Rock Of Ages Festival my participation on the AVANTASIA World Tour endet... due to personal reasons i can't take part at the last two shows...There's something i have to say: THANK YOU Tobias Sammet, Bob Catley, Eric Martin, Ronnie Atkins, Michael Kiske, Amanda Somerville, Sascha Paeth, Olli Hartmann, André Neygenfind, Miro "the hero" Rodenberg and Felix "BUM BUM" Bohnke... it was a grat honour sharing the stage with you...incredible artists with earthiness..WOW!!! And... A BIG,BIG HUG to the crew: AC, FD, ACHIM, MANUEL, FLO, NEUBI (good luck!!!), HILLE, STONEY, MARGARIDA, CHIARA, ANJA and, of course, ANNIE : you made the trip feeling like holidays!!! AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, AWESOME JOB!!! AVANTASIANS OF THE WORLD: UNITE!!!"

Comments about the show

Tobias Sammet commented about this show at Metalhammer.com: "I love England, I was writing the lyrical concept in England cause Great Britain is inspiring to me. Most of my heroes are British; Robin Hood, Bob Catley, James Bond… I am extraordinarily happy to finally present Avantasia on a British stage, and having played Bloodstock several times before I KNOW that those fans are ready and willing to experience this. It’ll be a small step for a single vocalist, but a giant leap for mankind!

My dream Bloodstock bill: Iron Maiden, Magnum, Def Leppard, Winger, Meat Loaf, KISS, AC/DC, Journey and Whitesnake and of course Edguy and Avantasia. Well, and King Diamond would work for me too! You’ll see a festival within a festival. We’ll bring people on stage that most fans will recognise, Ronnie of Pretty Maids, Michael Kiske, Bob of Magnum, Eric of Mr. Big… It’s an allstar project, an epic show and although it’s widely considered a Metal-”Opera” we won’t go on stage as “The Viking”, “Nero”, “Zeus”, “Anger” and “Gandalf”. We’ll go on there as who we are, play 15 songs and tear the place apart, with a vengeance and a keyboard…"

Oliver Hartmann published: "After a really great concert with AVANTASIA in Snina/Slovakia yesterday we're right on our way now to Birmingham to play the Bloodstock festival tomorrow in Derbyshire. Looking forward to it although it's unfortunately the last show of the tour ;("
