Comments about the show

Oliver Hartmann published on his facebook account: "After a great show in Mexico City - which we recorded - and a loooong travel day we arrived in Quebec/Canada yesterday night to play an open air festival tonight. Quebec is a very beautiful town and I'm looking forward to our show!" Amanda published after the show: "Some were skeptical to play our show in Quebec City after the insane shows we had in S. & C. America, but my fellow North Americans made me proud tonight. PROUD, I say!! Merci & thank you, Quebec! You ROCKED!!!!"

Michael Kiske published on Official facebook contact: "I have some very good memories about Canada! We toured North America and Canada 1987 together with Armoured Saint and Grim Reaper. On our way to Canada I got very sick in the tour-bus. When we checked into the hotel I had high fever and just wanted to sleep or die, but I had to do the show later, and I did. I was so weak that I had to kick out songs during the concert, so we played a very short set and I struggled a lot, but the people were fantastic! We had a great response. After we finished the set, half of the people went home again, because they really only came to see us. The other two bands had to play in front of a half empty venue. That evening we sold ALL of our merchandising, so I have some very good memories about Canada. Avantasia will be liked there too, I am sure."

Oliver Hartmann published after the show: "Had a great show and an unexpected amazing audience here in Quebec with AVANTASIA yesterday night and for God's sake Tobi was able to sing despite being ill. Now we're waiting at the airport again for the last long flight of the tour: Tokyo...14 hours..." Amanda commented: "Leaving the land o' the Maple Leaf - thanks again for an awesome time, Canada! And now... TOKYO: are you ready? I sure am!" Tobias Sammet commented two days after the show: "Back on track! Had been diagnosed with acute influenza in Canada, high fever, suspected pneumonia, got Cortisone etc... Well, I AM BACK! ;) Well, that's no excuse for my bad singing in Japan & Canada, JUST an explanation! But I get a lil better day by day, in 2019 I'll be good..."

Alexe commented about the show: "Avantasia seduce with their melodic power metal. A band with a lot of people with talent on the stage. Thanks for the awesome show." Jean-Marc Trepanier commented: "Avantasia than you! Great show at Quebec! See you soon, I hope." Charles S.  said: "Avantasia played about 2 hours more or less, it was an awesome show, I hope they will come back soon." Guillaume Labrecque: "1st ever show in North America by AVANTASIA in Quebec City tonight. 2 hours of pleasure. It was a killer performance. Thanks guys for coming over here. All singers were excellent (as expected from Sammet, Kiske, Catley, Martin, Somerville), but the 2 that impressed me more were Oliver Hartmann (also a great guitarist) and Thomas Rettke. Congrats and I hope you'll come back!" Mathieu Larochelle: "I've seen a tons of shows in my life but tonight in Quebec city was the best ever thanks to you Avantasia! I know Tobias was'nt 100% and he could have cancelled it so thanks a lot for that! Sound was perfect, all the artist were just terrific with some great surprises ( Never thought I would be able to see Heaven's Gate Thomas Rettke (and Sascha) in my life). Miss some Opera pt2 but still the setlist was incredible.Hope to see you all guys once again in Our wonderful city Good Luck for the rest of the Tour AVANTASIA ROOOOOOOCCCKKS!" Peter Tue commented: "Awesome show tonight! Fuck! And I don't love power metal now like I used to... but man, that was awesome! Fucking Epic! As good as when I saw you guys in Wacken 2008! And with the mighty Voivod!! Fuck, what a night!" Jean-Pierre Bouchard said: "Just came back from 2 hours and a half drive only to see you guys, and of course, it was totally worth it !! Edguy was my very first power metal show ever back in May 2002 at centre François-Charron.Thx Tobias, thx to all the members of your crew, peace."

Tobias Sammet commented to lithiummagazine about this show: "It was a great festival. In front of our stage, which was a side stage, we must have had 8000 to 9000 people. That’s what they said anyway. I didn’t count them (laughter). But it was really awesome there. The crowd was really loud and it was really great.... I have to say I don’t have great memories of it. I don’t have bad memories of it, either. I don’t have memories at all really, because I was really sick last time. I had a very bad flu for that Quebec show and was taken to the hospital the day of the show. When they x-rayed my lungs and saw how bad I was, the doctor said: “I can make you able to walk out on that stage. You’re gonna feel better but you are not going to be ‘good’.” And that’s what he did. I don’t know what he gave me. Apparently everybody said I was a very happy person that night. (laughter) But I honestly can’t recall much of it at all. I saw some video recordings afterwards and honestly can’t remember doing what I was watching. "
