2012-07-01 - Rockwave Festival 12, TerraVibe Park, Malakasa

July 01st, 2012

Rockwave Festival unisonic ozzyThis is another date for this tour. Rockwave Festival 2012 is scheduled to July 1st 2012 in Terravibe Park at Malakasa, Greece. It's quite near of Athens. The festival's location was constantly being changed until 2004, when event park TerraVibe Park, located in Attica, became the permanent host of the festival.

This is the statement of the festival about Unisonic: "Unisonic is Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen of Helloween together again! The band have two older and most loved members of Helloween: singer, with suberb voice, Michael Kiske - his first time here in Greece - and the main composer Kai Hansen - later founder of Gamma Ray. In Unisonic the drums are in charge of ingenious manager of Helloween and Gamma Ray, our compatriot Kosta Zafiriou who is also the drummer of Pink Cream 69, on bass is Dennis Ward, well known bassist of Pink Cream 69, who worked in several projects with Kiske, and also Mandy Meyer, former guitarist of Gotthard..."

Fans comments

Thodoris said: "The audience of Unisonic is singing: 'God is the bald' and also 'is the crazy bald'. Ikrory commented:"Epic comment at Rockwave, the audience is screaming to Michael Kiske: 'is the crazy bald' XD" Antere said: "The sound was bad (even terrible for my tastes). Kiske's mic volume was very low and you could barely hear him at times. The guitars were also not mixed very well. Sometimes you couldn't hear Hansen's solos and leads. The band played overall very good and Kiske was amazing. A couple of mistakes in Renegade and in Never Change Me. The set list was very good although I would have wanted to hear Future World or A Little Time." Anger commented: "I'm not a fan, but it was nice. A joy to all."  Ashmenia said: "They had problems with the microphones and the high bass... it was great to hear the screams and especially the finale of 'I Want Out' was an orgasm. Kiske remains an excellent level. I liked expecially 'Unisonic' and 'My Sanctuary'." Angus said: "The Unisonic were very good, better than I expected, although they were modest in bad sound... The Kiske in explosive mood, was very dynamic frontman, strange after so many years not to clash board, surprised me pleasantly. The classic Kai God. Adored him. When they played the two Helloween songs I went mad, I got bored with 'Never Too Late' and 'King For A Day', but it was ok, but liked a lot."

Also Dionysis Papageorgiou explained about the bad sound: "Sound was bad because it had too much bass that covered all the other instruments (and the voice). In my camera the sound was very good because the low frequencies aren't recorded there.. Our ears don't have a LCF (low cut filter) so if you were close to the stage you couldn't hear anything expect from bass drum. I stayed in front of the mixing desk (FOH) which was better in my opinion to enjoy the show."

Antere commented: "The show was overall good not great due to all the aforementioned things. There was good energy coming from the band and Kiske especaily, he was in a very good mood, but didn't have a lot of time to talk to the audience. Kiske also went down to shake the hands of the fans on the front row several times. I also didn't film many songs because the sound was so bad and I thought that it is not worth it. Thankfully the sound on the videos is much better than it was during the show: no muffled drum and bass sound and due to that you can hear Kiske's voice a little louder (and the mistakes in the guitars as well). The crowd that watched Unisonic was around 70% (around 6.000 to 7.000 people) of the full crowd which gathered during Machine Head's show to basically watch Ozzy. The crowd overall liked Unisonic. They understandably cheered the most during 'March Of Time' and 'I Want Out', but 'Renegade', 'Souls Alive' and 'Never Change Me' were applauded a lot also. The crowd also sang along during 'Unisonic', 'My Sanctuary', were Kai also joked during the sing-along asking "What do you say to Mrs Merkel?". People also chanted for Kiske before 'I Want Out' "The bald man is crazy".
