A total of 11 taxi beckoning stations with charging piles were put into use for electric taxis in Beijing from May 4, 2017.

In order to better support the demonstration operation of electric taxis in Beijing, charging piles were installed at taxi beckoning stations to serve for taxis’ charging from 2017.

Five of the 11 chargeable taxi beckoning stations are in Haidian district, four in Chaoyang district and two in Fengtai district. Each station is installed with two DC charging piles to satisfy charging for two taxis at the same time. The two charging piles are estimated to be able to charge 40 taxis per day. It takes about one to one and half hours for a taxi to fully charge via scanning code on the “Youyichong” APP.

Currently, there are about 500 electric taxis operated in downtown Beijing and 3,050 ones in suburban areas. It is estimated that the 11 chargeable taxi beckoning stations in downtown areas are capable of charging 440 taxis in a single day. The transport departments plan to install more charging piles at taxi beckoning stations according to the plan and feedbacks of taxi drivers.

It is noteworthy that the 11 stations are exclusive to taxis and social vehicles are not allowed to park for charging. And the taxis should leave the charging space as soon as they complete charging at the station.
